Our aim is to facilitate an open-minded and intellectually enriching multi-cultural literary conversation about poetry and its teaching.

Each volume of Shurot is comprised of two sections.

שורות הוא כתב-עת רב לשוני מקוון, שמטרתו לעודד את העיסוק המחקרי בשירה, לפתח את הדיון באסטרטגיות של הוראת שירה במסגרות של ההשכלה הגבוהה ולפרסם שירה מקורית בעברית, ערבית ואנגלית.

כל כרך של שורות יכלול שני מדורים.

 

flying-letters_smallThe section On Poetry and Its Pedagogy is under the editorship of Chanita Goodblatt (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev) and Gali Manor (Levinsky College of Education).  Essays (in English) are published here, which focus on the study of poetry in all forms and from all periods, as well as on the teaching of poetry in higher education.  In this section appear, among others, the following topics:  assessing poetry from historical and critical perspectives; research on poetic genres—such as children’s poetry, holy literature, protest poetry, epic poetry, documentary poetry; research on poetry in the interface with both narratology and performance studies; poetry and media, poetry in media—evenings of poetry readings, poetry networks, interactive poetry; the creative process in poetry writing; qualitative and quantitative research that analyses processes of reading poetry and constructing interpretations from cognitive and affective perspectives; different methods for teaching poetry. Each essay will of course undergo a double-blind review process by scholars in the field of poetry and education.

The section Poetry from Here is under the editorship of Eran Tzelgov (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Ra`av Press) and Chanita Goodblatt (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev). In every issue 6-8 poets will be represented through two or three new poems, in their  first publication.  The choice of more than one poem is designed to provide the opportunity for the community of readers to become acquainted with the unique voice of each and every one of the poets.  Poems for this section will be submitted following a personal request from the editors and their final publication will be at their discretion.  The published poems are from a variety of languages, written in the local space (Hebrew, Arabic, English—but not only), and will be accompanied by an English translation provided by the poets and/or editors.  Both the poems and translations undergo a careful reading process and are sent to the poets for approval before publication.  In each issue this section is devoted to one topic.  A short introduction will be provided, describing this topic’s uniqueness and importance, as well as can be learned from it about poetic expression in general and poetry written here (in Israel) in particular.

 

המדור של שירה והוראתה הוא בעריכתן של חניטה גוטבלאט (אוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב) וגלי מנור (מכללת לוינסקי לחינוך).  כאן מתפרסמים מאמרים (בשפה האנגלית), העוסקים בחקר השירה על כל צורותיה ותקופותיה, וכן בהוראת השירה במסגרת ההשכלה הגבוהה. במדור זה מופיעים, בין השאר, הנושאים הבאים:  חקר השירה בראייה היסטורית וביקורתית; חקר השירה על סוגותיה (ז’אנרים)—כגון שירת ילדים, ספרות קודש, שירת מחאה, שירה אפית, שירה דוקומנטרית; חקר השירה מתוך ממשק עם נרטולוגיה ותורת המופע; שירה ומדיה, שירה במדיה—ערבי הקראת שירה, שירת רשת, שירה אינטראקטיבית; התהליך היצירתי בכתיבת שירה; מחקרים איכותניים או כמותניים, המתחקים אחר תהליכים של קריאה ובניית פרשנות לשירה בהיבטים קוגניטיביים וריגושיים; דרכים שונות להוראת השירה.  כל מאמר ומאמר יעבור כמובן תהליך של שיפוט דּוּ-עָלוּם על ידי חוקרים בתחום השירה ובתחום החינוך.

המדור  שירה מכאן הוא בעריכתם של ערן צלגוב (אוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב והוצאת רעב) וחניטה גוטבלאט (אוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב). בכל גיליון מוצגים בין 6-8 משוררים ומשוררות בשניים או שלושה שירים חדשים, שזהו להם פרסומם הראשון.  הבחירה ביותר משיר מכל יוצר או יוצרת נועדה לתת לקהילה הקוראת אפשרות להכיר את הקול הייחודי לכל אחד ואחת מהיוצרים. שירים למדור יוגשו בעקבות פנייה אישית מצד העורכים ופרסומים הסופי נתון יהיה לשיקון דעתם.  השירים שמתפרסמים הינם משלל השפות הכתובות במרחב המקומי (עברית, ערבית אנגלית—אך לא רק), והם מלווים בתרגום לאנגלית שמספקים הכותבים ו/או העורכים. הן השירים הן התרגומים עוברים תהליך זהיר של קריאה ונשלחים לכובתות/ים לאישור לפני פרסום.  בכל גליון המדור מוקדש לנושא אחד.  יופיע מבוא שמתאר את ייחודיו של הנושא, חשיבותו ומה ניתן ללמוד ממנו על הביטוי השירי בכלל והשירה הנכתבת כאן (בישראל) בפרט.
